Exceptional Systems was set up by Stewart Bowman in 2001 following an IT career covering 30 years during which he worked in senior development roles for General Accident Insurance (now part of Aviva / Norwich Union) and IBM (UK).

The company initially focused on IT project management services, setting up and running projects for major public sector organisations in Scotland, including NHS Scotland and City of Edinburgh Council.

Other projects have included managing external consultancies for Scottish universities on behalf of Scottish Enterprise and the Business Gateway.

More recently, we have diversified into website design and build services, initially combining our IT knowledge with many years' songwriting and music production experience to develop websites for musicians.
